The system of mapping out possible options and then analyzing the outcomes of each could be used not only to predict human behavior but also to simulate social models to ensure the best possible outcomes. If, as sociologists, we are attempting to create a program to improve educational options for low income students, we could use game theory to help us map out the options that these students have to see where they are likely to end up, if that outcome is not favorable then we could work to create more positive options for a more positive outcome.

Game Theory
So we have begun to tackle game theory in class, and while I was more than a little intimidated by the prospect of studying something that's usually reserved for mathematicians, I'm truly enjoying it. Game Theory, while typically used by economists, biologists and engineers of all varieties, is understandably connected to sociology and more specifically social control. The mathematical theory is used in an attempt to explain or predict human choice making.
